Ryan

(Ed: Bumping this up but let's keep it Ryan and miltary support oriented, OK?)

This is Ryan's family. I met them Saturday at the Peace Rally.

Uncle Fred, Brother Corey, and Aunt Rose

Ryan's aunt told me his story.

Ryan is a Marine serving in Iraq, but Friday September 23, 2005, Ryan was scheduled to return home to his family. He hopped on the plane leaving Iraq (yesterday), excited for his journey home and relieved that he was leaving Iraq in one piece and alive.

Unfortunately, the powers-that-be changed Ryan's plans. As Ryan sat on the plane and waited to take off, an officer suddenly came on board. He called out three names.

Ryan's was one of them.

Ryan was told that he would have to stay in Iraq longer because there were not enough people to release him.

Saturday, Ryan's aunts, uncle, and brother marched in DC carrying the message to George Bush, "Bring Ryan home!"

Ryan has access to his email and so his family will email him this picture and your prayers.

Please post your wishes to Ryan and all our soldiers in this thread to let them know how much we love and appreciate their work.

They make your job so much harder.
Stay safe and know you are loved and appreciated.

Ryan,

I support you and all our brave troops.

Not by putting a yellow ribbon on my car, but by asking that you be protected properly.

Not by shouting empty slogans, but by supporting policies that keep your morales high.

Not by supporting false policies of W, but by making sure that you will only fight to make us safer.

My heart is with you.

Ryan,

Know that people who claim to be patriots are the ones who decided that it would be best for you and other soldiers to stay in Iraq. Also know that the real American patriots want you and your fellow soldiers to be back home in America. Hunderds of thousands of us marched on your behalf in Washington last weekend. We all respect and admire your courage and bravery. Hundreds of thousands-and probably millions-of us are ashamed that our current government leaders, who never served a day overseas in conflict, don't believe you deserve the benefits that you have richly earned.

You are brave and noble, and you have my greatest admiration. I am sorry that you and your family can't be together at this time.

If you do get this message, please share it with your fellow soldiers. Let them see that the Americans who boast about supporting the troops really don't give a sh@t about what happens to America's best, and that they only pay lip service to those of us who really care. Help your fellow soldiers realize that the silent majority has been silenced by the corrupt minority.

We on the left, are all working very hard to end this war. We have not been heard or seen on mainstream media, because the right owns it.

I hope you and all the other soldiers who are against this war, know this to be true. The protests on Sept. 24th were all over this country!

We got it done for the Viet Nam and we shall OVERCOME this one as well.

Peace!

I wish you were home safe right now.. but since that hasn't happened yet, I hope something special, worthwhile and meaningful happens to you during the time you have remaining on your extended stay there -- like a new friendship, or a new understanding. Something that will help compensate for the crummy thing your leadership did in pulling you off that plane.

Please come home safe, and when you get home, tell people about your experiences because sharing the truth is a great way to serve your country someday too.

I am adding my best wishes to those above, coming from Seattle.

Please know that millions in this country who do not agree with the way Bush has conducted things are pulling for you and others in similar situations. There are also people all over the world who know you are doing your job but are part of a machine. We are with you.

We pray so much for your safty. We promise to keep up the fight at home to end this occupation, to see Bush and Company sitting in a tribunal for warcrimes, and to bring all of you home saftly ASAP!

We respect you and honor the sacrifices each of you have made.

We're so sorry that this administration and the Republican majority refuse to be accountable for all the crimes since 2000--like Abu Ghriab, The war itself (Downing Street Memos), No Body armor, not enough people to really do the job right, etc...

You and your family are in my prayers. I cannot thank you enough for the service that you have provided to this nation. I also cannot tell you how awful it is the hear that this service is seemingly without end. It is heartbreaking beyond words that people like you and your brave family have to sacrifice so much, while so many others can just pretend there is no problem with this situation.

Again, my prayers to you for your safe return and to your family for what they have to endure before they get you back.

Locke Liddell & Sapp's Public Law Practice Named Best Among Texas Law Firms Second Year in A Row; Robert Miller Ranked No. 18 of 50 Top Lobbyists in State
January 26, 2005
Good Friends in High Places: Lobbyists Make the Connection for Maximum Sway
By Mike Hailey
Capitol Inside Editor
Successful lobbying requires good connections - and the partners at the Locke Liddell & Sapp law firm wanted to make sure they had all the bases covered before the Texas Legislature convened this year. The Houston-based firm's public law team felt good about the relationships it had in the offices of Governor Rick Perry and House Speaker Tom Craddick - and Locke Liddell partner Bruce LaBoon was in the process of moving to Austin where he had good connections in Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst's office as well. Feeling sufficiently plugged in with the state's top three Republican leaders, the law firm made it a full sweep by hiring an African-American member of the State Democratic Executive Committee to round out its lobby team. With some innovative thinking, serious contacts and no stones unturned, the number one lobby law practice in Texas one year ago is now even better.

Locke Liddell is a blue ribbon winner for the second year in a row as Capitol Inside unveils the 3rd Annual Texas Lobby Power Rankings to conjunction with the opening of the 79th regular session and the start of our third year in the online political newsletter publishing business ...The public law team at the Locke Liddell law firm leads the list of law firm lobby practices thanks in part to strong relationships that its top lobbyists have with the governor, the lieutenant governor and the speaker of the House...

Locke Liddell has become the go-to law firm for lobbying needs for Houston power players such as "Bob Perry"

Texas grand jury indicts DeLay on new charge
House Majority Leader charged with money laundering

BREAKING NEWS

Updated: 6:36 p.m. ET Oct. 3, 2005
AUSTIN, Texas - A Texas grand jury on Monday indicted U.S. Rep. Tom DeLay on a new charge of money laundering.

A different grand jury whose six-month term ended last week indicted him on a conspiracy charge, forcing DeLay to temporarily step down as House majority leader.

Both indictments accuse DeLay and two political associates of conspiring to get around a state ban on corporate campaign contributions by funneling the money through the DeLay-founded Texans for a Republican Majority Political Action Committee to the Republican National Committee in Washington. The RNC then sent back like amounts to distribute to Texas candidates in 2002, the indictment alleges.

Ryan and family,

The more I think about this, the more I think it's an example of the lip-service the Bush admin. gives to supporting the troops, while pulling the rug out from under them at every turn.

I cannot imagine what you all went through - Ryan, expecting to be on your way home - certainly full of thanks for making it out in one piece. Ryan's family thrilled to have him heading home in one piece.

I have to say cruel and unusual punishment comes to mind - although for no particular crime. It is infuriating to those of us who are working to bring an end to this craziness, and supporting your safety.

You all are in our hearts and prayers and we continue to work for peace and for justice for you and all the troops. Hang in there, friends. We will not forget.

Ryan- we are praying for your safe return home. I can't imagine how awful it must have been to have been told you were going home and then pulled back into the mess that is Iraq.
My sister's son Kevin was in the first wave of Marines into Iraq, and we all celebrated his homecoming with a huge family barbeque in Mobile, Ala where he grew up. Even though I disagree with this war- I'm proud of my nephew and the sacrifice he made by serving his country, and your family is proud of you too.
The time will come when you will return home- keep the faith while you're over there. We are all proud of our soldiers and the very difficult job they have been asked to do. Even though we might not agree with the reasons behind this war, it's young people like you who have kept this nation safe for over 200 years now. Please know that you're in our prayers. And know that, when you do come home, you'll be welcomed by your friends and family as a hero, just like we welcomed our nephew Kevin. Just keep thinking about tomorrow- it's going to happen.

I am so moved by the kindness, wisdom, and thoughtfulness of all who have responded to Ryan's story. It's so easy to get caught up in the disheartening news of the day and feel the weight of it all on the shoulders of those in the trenches. So many of us are moved too Katie. You can not imagine the heartfelt relief that I personally felt when I saw your family found Ryan's messages. (I was worried since it took me a while to get it together.)

But furthermore, as I saw Ryan's story told on other blogs/forums, I saw an amazing response of caring and anger as Ryan's story was shared and excitement when people were told that your family had seen the messages (and that Ryan will be seeing them too).

We will heave a huge sigh of relief when you all are reunited, and when ever soldier in Iraq is reunited with his/her family.

WELCOME HOME RYAN!!!

Thank goodness you are well on your way home!!!

We are proud of you!!!

Please, if you can, let your friends in Iraq know our thoughts and prayers are with all our soldiers still there, and in Afghanistan.
