WHITE HOUSE REPORT

The rain is falling steadily and it is cold; the press are irritated because they are waiting in the nasty weather, and several of us are trying to dance to keep warm...Where is Cindy?

The World Can't Wait people take up their places in front of the White House.

CindyWhiteHouse6.jpg

She arrives, striding through the park, and the press crowd around her. She recognizes a few of them from Camp Casey and greets them warmly and they visibly relax. They like her, they really do. She is accessible and real.

Did I mention that it is cold?

The questions come quickly. Cindy says that she is here because whether 1 soldier or 2,000 have died, the problem is that the Bush Administration LIED. Not ONE soldier should have died for the manipulations of these officials. She plans to lie down every evening at 6 pm in front of the White House, and she hopes to gather 2000 people to lie down with her by Friday evening; so that we can all see what 2,000 dead soldiers might look like.

She is also fasting today, because the President is at a luncheon with spouses and mothers of dead Iraqi soldiers. The thought of the government providing a luncheon and a speech for the families of soldiers who have given their lives, as opposed to, say, ARMOR or BENEFITS to the soldiers themselves, not to mention the fact that they are IN Iraq for lies, is not lost on anyone there.

Ann Wright points out that it took four years for the number of U.S soldiers killed in VietNam to reach 2,000; we beat that record.

And then a young man speaks up. His name is John Bruhns; he is an Iraq war veteran and he states that Cindy is correct. This war is based on lies--the Iraqis did not want us; we are not helping. He says he has wondered where all the parents were of those young people who were getting killed every day over there.

CindyWhiteHouseBruhns.jpg

He knows where one parent is now: She is right in front of the big white mansion, and she is not going away.

It is up to the rest of us to make sure that the rest of the country knows what has been done in our name. Speak up, speak out, step up. The world cannot wait.

sitting in a coffee shop to upload this story--Cindy comes in, grabs a cuppa hot water and heads out again--calling us babies, as we huddle here in the elusive warmth...

OK, OK. We get it.

So get this story out there--it's the least you can do--we know you are warmer than we are!!!

DW,

I am responding to your post from earlier today. DAWN is very active in our town, and I have had discussions with them about working with DCP in order to get a referendum on our village ballot to keep the patriot act provisions out of our town. We have worked closely together on other projects, and they are a very impressive grass roots organization that has Republican members as well.

McCain approached to take Cheney's place as V.P., reported on Ed Schultz.
Sounds like a wild rumor, but that would be dispicable if McCain refused to serve with an honorable man like John Kerry to then serve with a man who slimed his family. My respect for McCain is in the toilet.
Since Cheney never testifed before the Grand Jury this all sounds like wild rumors.

Ira,

Did this rumor say that McCain was honestly considering it? Whenever a politician is asked by the President to serve, they will always consider the President's request, but in McCain's case, I doubt that he would ever work with GW.

Ed just repeated this RUMOR oncall.
Doesn't even sound like Cheney will be indicted, YET.
Ed called Condi and McCain as simply trial balloons I am not putting much stock into it. Personally if McCain or any other Republican gets too close to Bush in the next 3 years, their chances in '08 are finished. I think it would be really stupid to even consider that move, if necessary ,if he is serious about running in '08. It would be seen as giving W a third term which I don't believe even Republicans now want.
I think it will take a new Grand Jury to force the continued investigation of the White House.
"There is not doubt he has weapons of mass destruction and there is no doubt he intends to use it on the US, said Cheney in '02"
Let's get Cheney under oath before the Grand Jury to do some splainin.

Extremely unlikely that McCain would get in bed with the "torture" administration. He'd have to defend the policy, a policy he is attempting to repudiate through the Bill that has passed the Senate - but Bush continues to defend.

All three Iraqi provinces with majority Sunni populations voted the Constitution down; however, in only two of those provinces did they get the requisite 2/3 vote to defeat the document. Hence, while the Constitution indeed passed, the gulf between Sunni, Shiite and Kurds was not bridged.

Karen,

Thanks for keeping us informed about what is happening in Washington. I will bet anything that Bushco Propaganda wont be discussing this until 2000 people do lay down in front of the White House.

Great post, Karen.
Also want to mention that the front page is wonderful consistently, every day. I LOVE seeing the photos of what's happening in front of the white house. Loved the cloud over the white house one especially.

Did I read that our soldiers are dying at twice the rate they did in the first four years in 'Nam? And Condi says we're going to be at it for ten or more years???

Helloooooo??
