Where There's Smoke...
I have got to tell you: Just when you think life has gotten as surreal as it could possibly get, suddenly the Gods of Satire look down upon you and throw some interesting stuff your way.
Here's the story from the beginning...
Today, as I was driving to work, I heard a siren in the distance. Being the law abiding citizen that I am, I pulled over as I'm required by law to do. In my rear-view mirror, I could see the strangest contraption heading my way.
A red mirage? ...No.
A red fire truck...? Well... that would be using that phrase very loosely!
As it passed by me and pulled in front of me, I could see it more clearly. And the kindest thing anyone could say about the little red thingie making it's way up the road is that it was a fire truck wanna-be -- a cross between a jeep and a dunebuggy, painted red, and looking amazingly like a child's toy.

At least its presence provided a good laugh between my daughter and I as I resumed driving the long trek to work -- all the while following the little do-hickey fire jeep with the funny bars on top and its flashing red light. Before too long, it was just a tiny red blob in the distance.
Of course everyone knows where there's little red fire trucks, there's smoke, and where there's smoke, there's fire.
After following the little red jeep heading north, I shouldn't have been very surprised when I hit the highway and discovered the highway had turned into a parking lot waiting to greet me. (Lovely! Say goodbye to arriving to work on time!)
So there I was, sitting motionless on the highway, when it occurred to me, there was no traffic going the opposite direction! A little warning bell rang in my head as I inched my way forward in the traffic.
Eventually, I got to the trouble spot -- you know that spot, it's called, "Gawkerville" -- it's the place with the prime view, where everyone and their neighbor gathers to point at and watch with awe and glee whatever terrible thing has happened to someone else.
In this case, given the amount of gawkers and the lack of westbound traffic, I knew the problem was going to be a doozey. That's when I saw the four fire trucks, the one police car, a tow truck, and... (you guessed it!) my baby dunebuggy-fire-truck wanna-be up on the hillside with another wanna-be fire-truck-buggy racing along side him.
Imagine... the two dunebuggies swerving back and forth, running around in circles, speeding up and down the hillside next to the highway for about a half a mile. The charred dirt, still smoking, lay in their wake.
Not a pretty sight, but the scorched earth was another reminder of the old saying... where there's smoke there's fire.
Later, after I returned home, I saw this:
Bush orders Miers to defy House subpoena
Sara Taylor refuses to testify about firings
White House Invokes Executive Privilege In Tillman Investigation
And I also saw the video of President Bush's press conference from yesterday. (Yes, I'm talking about the one in which he's all but saying, "Move along, move along..." the same way the police were doing that to us on that gawker-filled highway.) But here it is as translated into written Bush-Speak for the tv-impaired:
THE PRESIDENT: Michael, I -— first of all, the Scooter Libby decision was, I thought, a fair and balanced decision. Secondly, I haven’t spent a lot of time talking about the testimony that people throughout my administration were forced to give as a result of the special prosecutor. I didn’t ask them during the time and I haven’t asked them since.
I’m aware of the fact that perhaps somebody in the administration did disclose the name of that person, and I’ve often thought about what would have happened had that person come forth and said, I did it. Would we have had this, you know, endless hours of investigation and a lot of money being spent on this matter? But it’s been a tough issue for a lot of people in the White House, and it’s run its course and now we’re going to move on.
There's enough smoke around here to set off a city's worth of smoke detectors -- if we're lucky, maybe even a nation's!
Clearly, the Bush administration has jumped into their own little red fire trucks and are frantically trying to put out the flames that have been revealed by Congress's active oversight.
They have a big problem though. They have too many fires: a little lie here, an outing of a spy there, leaking a spy's name here, a little commutation there, a little firing of qualified prosecutors here, a little bit of tax money spent on Republican campaigns there, a little RNC email server here, a little embarrassed executive power there...
Their little toy fire-truck wanna-be's cannot move around fast enough to smother the flames. And there's so much smoke that we, the people, are not falling for their propaganda any longer either.
Ed Schultz said it best: "I think it’s a tired act, it’s an old act, it’s the same old stuff. He’s basically trying to buy some time..."
The problem for them is that all this smoke has left a scorched administration and a scorched party in the public's eyes. The black clouds of smoke lingering over Cheney and the sparks of corruption flaring from the White House have wormed their way into the peoples' consciousness now.
Thus, despite the White House's best efforts, more and more people agree with Ed Schultz and are calling out for impeachment. And how many more will agree, now that Bill Moyer's Journal has presented a damning case for impeachment that all the general public can see?
Let Bush and his gang keep circling their little red fire trucks. It's not going to work because even the most uninvolved citizens know that where there's smoke, there's fire. They understand that the obstruction of justice investigation is increasing exponentially, much like one tiny spark can cause a huge forest fire.
Gawking at the Bush administration frantically trying to smother these fires as quickly as the investigations keep revealing them is quite entertaining. But I see my role in this differently. I see myself as a little fire-starter (symbolically speaking, of course) by keeping the heat on them, and by not letting them put out those fires before each person who crosses my path understands their crimes.
I've got my torch, and it says, "Impeachment!" And I intend to carry it with me wherever I go. My torch is the truth and a cell phone. Because each time I reveal the truth to someone, I offer them my phone with this special number pre-dialed for them:
202-224-3121.
And now they can carry the torch, their phones, and that number too.
Does your heart burn for impeachment the way mine does? If so... grab your torch, grab your phone, and let's keep those flames alive together!

What has happened to the All American Fire Truck?
Oh man, that is just not right.
Heartburn indeed. After the movie last night, we (Richard, Marietta, and I) sat around contemplating, in addition to an apartment in Paris (see the movie), our motus operandi for the coming week.
People need to know, in addition to having the direct phone numbers, that CALLING IN TO CONGRESS is critically important.
It is hard to explain how deeply en-bubbled they are. Calling in is a way of penetrating the fog. Tell everyone that.
I just made up that word: ENBUBBLED. I like it.
Let em know if you use it and it takes off. It is a good descriptor of Congress...
Suz,
I LOVE THAT! So much for writer's block, right?
Keep carrying that torch, woman!
FOX is having a field day with a new bin Laden video. I followed a link from a reader suggestion at Real Clear Politics, which led to a blogger who then referenced Yahoo News, at which site I could not find a reference.
Anyway, the blogger reports on a French counterterrorism expert who said on Europe 1 radio that the footage is old and patched together with a little new audio and that some of it dates back to 2001.
Remember "The Boy Who Cried Wolf?" It could be that some FOX watchers are the type who live in an adolescent boy fantasy armchair world and rely on this for entertainment and that others have become jaded. Still others may have their koolaid wearing off a little and it's a reminder that bin Laden and others are still on the loose. Somewhere in their clouded minds, they may ask questions about why the war is taking so long. For others, unless it touches them or their family personally, I wouldn't bet on it.
Karen
In the last thread, you have caused me to run out for Vietnamese food!
Hey did yall read the original article on that DailyKos diary about the reporter on the cruise?
OMFG! That has to be the bravest reporter on earth, I woulda jumped into the ocean.
I don't know wether to laugh insanely or scream hysterically.
BTW, not that any of us want to, but yall should read this.

We must never back down. And we must not fail.
Time to make it stop. Impeach the bastards.
You know what amazes me? In spite of the msm black outs and foe news revising history every damn day, 45% of people and what 54% want the dick and cheney freak show impeached.
Almost a full half of us has already came to the conclusion he needs to be impeached, pretty much all on our own.
Can you imagine what those numbers would jump too once impeachment does become a mainstream issue? Once it and his crimes are just openly disseminated, can you just imagine what will break against him?
That torch is burning brighter than ever. I do not think I have ever seen it shining through more clearly.
Bill Moyers again shows what real journalism is about...
The public is at nearly 50% for the impeachment of George W. Bush and over 59% for that of the de facto President, Dick Cheney. Yet no media outlet or journalist has had an honest and in-depth look at this question, the precedents, the law, etc. If the public demands entertainment news, then why does the public seem to crave that which is not on the daily menu? Clearly, at least half of the country wants to have this conversation. Why then is corporate media not running to score ratings with such a large audience base? And if the public seems to grasp issues that the corporate media cannot even report, then does this not suggest that the public is getting its news elsewhere? But I digress, as I often do.
Tonight Bill Moyers did a special on the question of impeachment and he was both a fair journalist and a brave American in hosting it and asking questions that presented feelings on both sides of the isle. The two guests were Bruce Fein - former Deputy Attorney General under President Reagan, and still very much a Republican by identity - and John Nichols, who serves as Washington correspondent for the Nation magazine and Associate Editor for the Capital Times.
Because we have the required left representative and right representative appearing side by side to discuss such a delicate topic, I braced for a cat fight or at least a bit of screaming.
But something odd happened on the way to the impeachment talk and the appropriate political views that were supposed to be cued. Neither Nichols or Fein defended the Democrats, if anything, they skewered them for their lack of duty to their oath of office. Both agreed on the facts of the issues, that is, that serious crimes have been committed by the Executive. And both agreed that there is a remedy in impeachment and that such a remedy was the duty of Congress.

Very blocked. If there's such thing as 'writer's constipation...'
Never mind...Let's not go there!
Christy, that torch is burning brighter despite all the media support Bush has enjoyed for 6 years. Right now their actions speak louder than words.
If I'm silent today, it's because I've headed out to protest with "Enough" at 12:00 and then I will be decorating a few extra large rocks. It's the time of the season for festivals and fairs and NASCAR.

Why then is corporate media not running to score ratings with such a large audience base? Christy
I wonder if the advertisers are in touch with the public? Would they threaten to pull their ads? What if people put pressure directly on the sponsors?
I think the media blackout is much more sinister than your basic no one cares about the little people.
Ever notice certain things are completely left unreported. Or, when public pressure DEMANDS they mention it, they never truly educate you about what it is or the implications of it, like with the Downing Memos.
Those alone are enough to not only impeach georgie for treason but tony blair too. It is enough to try them both on war crimes.
The more I look at the way the media is being controlled the more ominous it seems to me.
It is not so much that they went silent, it is what they all collectively go silent about that is startling.
This is being mass-emailed around here.
Please take the time to watch Bill Moyers Journal on Impeachment, which was aired on Friday night, July 13. You will NOT be disappointed. It can be viewed on the PBS site: www.pbs.org/moyers/journal
His guests were Bruce Fein and John Nichols. Fein is a constitutional lawyer who authored the articles of impeachment against Bill Clinton and worked in Reagan's Justice Department. John Nichols wrote "The Genius of Impeachment" and writes for The Nation. These are two men from the opposite sides of the spectrum, who are agree that Bush and Cheney need to be impeached.
This should be required viewing by all members of Congress and every American as well. Both men agreed that our country is in a "Constitutional Crisis" and the cure is impeachment, which was demanded by our founding fathers in our Constitution to save the republic. They further stated the legislative branch is abdicating their constitutional authority by allowing the Bush Administration to create an imperial presidency, where they need to answer to NO ONE. Both agreed the case for "High Crimes and Misdemeanors" has been well documented.
Please call Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid and demand the articles of impeachment against Dick Cheney and George Bush. Then write your representatives that impeachment is absolutely necessary. They have very strong, negative words for all of Congress as well, and believe Pelosi should never have promised that impeachment was off the table.
Knowledge is power.
It is not so much that they went silent, it is what they all collectively go silent about that is startling.

The nail that stands up gets pounded down.
Japanese proverb
Not every nail is afraid of the pounding. It is what they exist for.
Christys observaion.
My point is, georgie could not have even attempted what he has done, unless he could be sure the press would go along.
Either through conditioning, fear, or whatever... What happened is not only real, it was DELIBERATE.
If georgie does go on trial I suspect we will find out alot more about people like novak and the judy millers of the world.
When a nail 'stands up' it is not because something is wrong with the nail.
Helen Thomas was the first nail...the Bush administration sent her to the back of the press room and ignored her for years. When all is said and done she will be remembered for standing up to power, and standing alone.
The whimps in the white house press corp did not do their job, of which they should be eternally ashamed. Their job is to be guard dogs, in fact they are hamsters.
The MSM is owned by multinational conglomerates that dont want to see their bottom lines touched or placed at risk. If the news would cause people to stop buying corn flakes, it wont run. The rooster is a Pimp, the hens prostitutes.
The Honorable Nancy Pelosi must be aware that the Nation is at risk..It is her job to bring National pressure to bear on 1600 Pensylvannia Avenue. Nobody said it would be easy, and these decisions cannot be taken lightly. But the actions taken by this Administration give cause.
Will we keep building war memorials for our sons and daughters because we could not stand up and say no more? is it truly easier to grieve than march on Washington? At what point does the Nation decide it wont allow foriegn policy to be determined by a resident group of zealots that give any extremist group a run for the money?
What more does the house of representatives require to take action.

We should work to get Helen Thomas the Nobel Peace Prize.
Heading out to get freeway blogging supplies now. I decided that with all the events this week (locally) that maybe I should wait until the night before to paint the rocks. I don't want to give anyone else time to paint over.

Air Force Quietly Building Iraq Presence

"Away from the headlines and debate over the 'surge' in US ground troops, the Air Force has quietly built up its hardware inside Iraq, sharply stepped up bombing and laid a foundation for a sustained air campaign in support of American and Iraqi forces," reports The Associated Press's Charles J. Hanley.

Today is rather bizarre: there are several threads which are personal attacks directed at me. (which is something of a success in my view, i.e. they are so mad that my posts are pretty persuasive that they go out of their way to slam me) Pay close attention to two of my arch cyber-enemies Swamper and Lumm. Re: South Vietnam
South Vietnam never died. It simply moved to Orange County, California, where all the high officials of the government live, and where its flag is still recognized as the flag of Vietnam.
One reason why McCarthyism is alive and well in Southern California. The other reason is the Korean community, even though South Korea is alive, well, and neoliberal.
Such is my level of mistrust toward these communities that when I met with madame defarge in Chicago for Memorial Day, I specifically asked not to dine out in Korean and Vietnamese places. Fortunately, she didn't know of any even if she wanted to.

I still remember a blurry tape of Bin Laden celebrating the success of 9/11.
I clearly remember that Bin Laden was left-handed in that tape. Fundamentalist Muslims are NEVER left-handed - they are forced to become right-handed (like the Confucian fundamentalists forced me).
I decided that the tape, provided by US intelligence officials, was not real.

We had a good international day. First we went to Chinatown and they had a great street festival with yummy Vietnamese, Thai, Filipino and Chinese food but they also had an inflatable MacDonalds and it had a longer line than all of the others combined. (You can see it in person at my website)
Then it was off to Bastille Day where we had Kir and listened to Pearl Django music and bought used books from an imitation "bouguinista" then bussed home. I did meet several charming French war brides whose husbands never did learn English. We talked about the sinking dollar.

Posted by: not my president at July 15, 2007 11:07 AM
Now, there's a thought. Kill Advertising. Fantastic idea - get sponsors to switch advertising to a media outlet that offers a more balanced view. An outlet that actually considers truth. Right now sponsors are advertising to a bunch of poor fiction writers instead of journalists with the integrity of seeking for truth.
I just made up that word: ENBUBBLED. I like it.

Great Word, Karen! I might be able to use it today. Our PM's gone into panic mode after the polls show an even greater affection for the Opposition. Rudd's own brother gave money to the parties that make up the coalition (current government). Howard's called an extraordinary cabinet meeting! He's just spent 2 days in Tasmania where he forgot the name of one of his candidates who is standing for reelection - and who works with him every day! The media has decided that he's too old! The entire country has decided that. And the next in line for the throne is a sleaze.

Emotionally grieving strips away part of the soul. Physically, it's easier to stay away from the disappointments. But people here do get out there and I send all the good thoughts and energies I can muster.

The sad thing is: this happens every single day. Swamper posts all day long. If he has a job, I suspect it is in Lansing with the Republicans or some lobbyist or something. Swamper (I call him Spammer) - his full time job (paid or unpaid) is spam every thread with rightwing garbage. Several Michigan newspapers have had this problem with spammers taking over the discussion boards.
I talked with the newspaper editors about this problem of abuse and suggested that people type in an anti-spam code or limit the number of posts per day (or hour) etc. Swamper, before he was kicked out under a different alias, average 80 posts a day. This is pretty hard to do - lots of clicks etc... but with one, two or three word messages you can get a lot of posts up in a short time. And that is their strategy. Cover the board with garbage..

I'm not trying to convince these: I am showing the liberal, Democrat flag in a hostile area for the undecided and/or the scared, weakened liberals. There are a lot of people who look at the boards but do not comment ( the silent majority ) those are they people I am hoping to at least move to the left or not blindly support the Republicans.
Rightwing radio/ Limbaugh stuff (broadcast from 9 am.m to 6 pm. everyday) dominates political discussion here. Perhaps 20% of the people actually read the paper. The newspaper is terrified of losing readers - its editorials slant Democrat but they very careful not to drive people away. Actually they stay away from national events entirely, only offering opinions on local and state issues.
"I'm not trying to convince these: I am showing the liberal, Democrat flag in a hostile area for the undecided and/or the scared, weakened liberals."
Amen Sir. I do the same damn thing.
Consider us the democratic version of Swift Boating.
Antagonize the enemy, let them know your watching.
And if you can, run em over with the boat on your way back to bluer waters.
Hehehe.
(PS... Kinda funny cause I suspect the two main busheviks on my board are also republican operatives. If not paid, volunteers.)
It has always been the nature of a democrat to forgive, excuse, find a reason for the way things have to be.
We are less likely to become jaded, and twisted.
But when dealing with evil people, that is exactly the opposite of what you want to bring to the table.
When I read that article about the reporter on the ship, how the lady was saying liberals need to be taken to the 'gas chamber'... It reminded me of my local board where these kind of conservatives just openly spout sh*t like that every day.
I am more liberal than democrat, therefore I was jaded long ago, but I swear to God when these republicans are allowed to take over a corner and get comfortable, they are the most twisted thing I have ever seen.
Between the open war they have declared on everything, the racisim and unrelenting dirty deliberate distortions are just shocking to actually sit there and endure.
Do people like DCP members have any way to affect it?
Yes. Adopt a message board. From repellican strongholds.
Monitor it and jump in to stop the lies.
And be prepared to confront evil people who are lying on purpose and would send you to the gas chamber with nary an ounce of irony.
On my local message board I have been sexually smeared a thousand times. I have been called every filthy name that exists and openly threatened with murder, assaults and gang rape. I was told all who dissent against georgie should be 'shot in the head'.
No, the moderator is not interested in stopping it, unless I suspect, it was me saying it to them.
I have watched as my own countrymen calling for the ethnic cleansing of New Orleans. The ethnic cleansing of Muslims is such an open subject, it is just taken for granted you won't mind untold numbers of them dying.
They often speak of killing liberals. And democrats. There is no shame to it. There is no regrets, just an unmitigated desire to destroy our nation and murder and imprison our own countrymen for no reason at all.
This kind of conversations are no longer the exception, they are the rule. Every damn day it plays out on republican controlled areas.
The cult of the bushevik is a cult of death.
And our entire nation is infected with it.
georgie can not be allowed to walk away from this unbothered by accountability.
The only way to destroy the cult of the bushevik is to expose their little god for the lying butcher he is.
The only way to destroy the cult of the bushevik is to expose their little god for the lying butcher he is.
Posted by: Christy at July 15, 2007 11:10 PM
Christy, I think that would not destroy the cult, in the same way as exposure and abhorrence did not destroy the white supremacy cult and the nazi followers that are still around today. These people already know the truth and reject it to suit their own senses of self importance and power. They can't stand with the truth tellers and be regarded as all-powerful, because truth-tellers have integrity and a greater belief in the value of others.
The people on your message board - and Ralpheh's message board - aren't interested in anything that you say. Hate is a malignant cancer of emotion that eventually eats the soul. Let these boards go, because these people are not worth converting. They can't be converted because it would lose them power in their otherwise bankrupt lives.
You feed the power. Having said all that, there are people who would like to have more information; more truth that is backed up by facts. Just by saying so, does not make it true. That's why the attribution to the source of information is so important on this blog. These people will seek you out. Don't waste your time trying to convert the KKK. You won't succeed. They are the turds of the social hierarchy. In the muck at the bottom of the deepest landfill of the planet.
In fact, my dialogue with those people, should I feel compelled to have dialogue, would be to ask very simple questions - can you tell me where to find the source of that information. Is that person an expert in the field? What are his/her credentials on this topic?
You will find they only have their own viewpoints and they hate to be challenged. They are a waste of time and energy. They will exist in every society, for time evermore. They are the true *trash* of every race and creed. Every society has some. They are the *blamers*, like the WH blamers. And rather than let you discover that they don't know anything, they switch to abusive mode. I notice that they are not in Iraq or Afghanistan risking their lives. Nor are their children. No. They would never have the guts to fight for their king.
"...aren't interested in anything that you say."
They do not have to be interested, I am more interested in confronting liars.
"You feed the power. "
No... Not at all. They feed on those who are too weak to resist.
They never doubted I am resisting.
"These people will seek you out. Don't waste your time trying to convert the KKK. You won't succeed."
Funny how lots of people threaten me, but they never actually wind up at my door to do anything about it.
And if they do come, I will gladly die fighting.
I am not trying to convert them Woz. I am afraid you missed the point.
I am there so they can not lie and spin unconfronted.
" In the muck at the bottom of the deepest landfill of the planet. "
That landfill is called the USA and they are in control of the conversation.
"You will find they only have their own viewpoints and they hate to be challenged."
Which is exactly why they must be challenged.
"They are the *blamers*, like the WH blamers."
Woz, for many reasons, as I said, I have reason to believe I am not facing down assorted 'trash' but republican operatives.
Robots put there to deliberatly infect the conversation and attack anyone that does not fall into line.
Robots with very specific and interesting talking points and tactics.
I do not consider confronting evil people a waste of time. You are not the first to tell me how pointless it is.
I say it is pointless to ignore it. We do not tolerate hate speech, because eventually it will turn into acts of hatred.
And that eventually feels closer by the day.
For a moment, imagine hitler had not offed himself. Image he had lived only to be captured by forces closing in on him.
The war crimes trials that followed were pivotal, but the biggest fish of all never got cooked.
Imagine if he had went on trial. Imagine him in shackles, reduced to spitting vile and badly thought out justifications.
Remember the nazi supporters being force led through the death camps to make them confront reality and shame them?
Imagine the shame that woud have been leveled on the nazis had their leader been systematically exposed before the entire universe. The tricks he played on his nation, all brought to light and thrown in his face.
Do you really think there would be anymore people that would want to be nazis....?
If you want to break the minds of the busheviks, then expose the one they worship in a long and honest trial.
Otherwise, 50 years from now, there will still be some jackbooted goose stepping morons running around worshipping the MYTH that was never shattered.
Of course, Christy. If you feel that it helps more than hurts you, then that's what you do. Naturally those who try to feed your fear by threatening you, won't seek you out. Only those who want to know more from you will seek you out. As I did recently. It's so easy for them to bully whilst hiding behind a screen name.
I wasn't meaning to criticise you. Frankly all of the women on the DCP are so gutsy, that I can't believe you are all fighting the fight of your lives - and ours all across the world - to take back your country and resume the respect of the world that you once enjoyed. And I'm glad to be able to chat with you at some odd hours.
Keep doing what you're doing. Every seed sown in someone's mind is a little seed of doubt in their beliefs. The seeds just need a little nurture and they eventually sprout.
Ahh - you just made my case against capital punishment. It's too easy on the guilty. Remember Saddam Hussein? When he was being taunted whilst having the noose put around his neck, it generated sympathy across the world.
He didn't have to suffer the loss of liberty that would be a far worse punishment than death. He should have been put into Gitmo. After first being sent to the eastern European holding-torture-cells to be water-boarded and raped. And kept in bright lights with loud heavy metal music 24 hours a day for the rest of his life. What made him so special that he was granted an easier resolution?
Why did the tyrant who supposedly caused this mayhem, get such a rapid escape from this unhappy world? Your soldiers coming home and being discharged because they obviously had preexisting mental conditions, in order to be diagnosed with ptsd, will have a lifetime of nightmares attacking them - and no health care from your government. No wonder the level of suicide is so high amongst them. Saddam copped it easy.
No darlin I did not feel critisized.
I understand all of your points, and normally they would be 100% correct. But these are not normal times. These are not 'normal' conversations of political discourse.
I think perhaps one of Ralph first points can really pin it down, but it was an obscure point.
Obscure, but the summation of why it must be done.
It is not about converting those that chose to be evil. It is about protecting those who can not or will not speak up. It is about making yourself seen, so others will see they are no longer alone.
When they know that they are more likely to step up and do the right thing.
Many do.
I do not just feel it helps, I can literally see it change the conversation. I can counter them at all points on all flanks, all by myself because they have completely abandoned the moral highground.
They made proving them wrong as easy as being willing to do it.
I do it with MUCH pleasure.
Then all I can say Christy is, WELL DONE! If it gives others a little more courage to carry their own thoughts, that's fantastic. And you may never know who they are. The evidence will be at the ballot box - or electronic voting computer. And that's where it all counts. We hope.
You have guts. I'm not even game to tackle my American sister who votes for the dark side. And she used to be such an intelligent, compassionate person.
Christy,
Bravo!
I need some kind of inspiration here in Reagan Country - and you just provided it.
The so-called Dominionist "Christians" in my area sport bumper stickers that say "NOTW" - Not Of This World. If their Rapture happens, at least half the cars here will be unmanned. These are very antisocial, sick people.
Another proof of their sickness: my cat was attacked twice by a neighbor. I know it because after the first attack, the cat came back limping, with a severe puncture wound to his back, definitely of human origin. The second attack killed him. It was their victory orgy after W won the 2004 race.
If I were a politician with a base like this, I would be ashamed to death. And honestly, W should feel very ashamed.
And this is precisely why the Dems need full court press, the 50-state strategy that Howard Dean talks about but never really implements.
Democrats have NO organization, NO presence, NO candidates in my district. Especially, if you fish or hunt, you run a business, or you drive a non-hybrid car, they're irrelevant. And in much of the South (including Christy's area), it's no different.
My state Dems really need to get out of their bubble in San Francisco and Santa Monica, and do their version of full-court press in San Bernardino, Riverside, Fresno, and Bakersfield - four of the state's fastest growing cities. NOW.
Ally, I don't believe W has a conscience. He wouldn't know what shame feels like. He's always got his way, throughout his whole life. Where do you think he learned his VETO-trick! He's never had to face a single mistake in his life. Either that, or he was born without a consience. Oh, that's right. He says he's never made mistakes.
Wonder if W was born with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome?
TSP - Was Barbara a boozer?
** new thread **
Woz,
I don't know, but Jr. shows alot of the symptoms
of AFS. They have NO conscience, is NEVER sorry about anything.
