Scary Ignorant

Amazing.

From Eric Kleefeld at TPM Election Central:

John McCain has become the first candidate for president to comment on Al Gore’s Nobel Peace Prize in a negative way, telling an Iowa crowd that there were more worthy people out there to whom the prize could have been awarded.

“I would have liked to see that prize go to the Buddhist monks who are suffering and dying in Burma,” McCain said.

Yes, Senator, that’s right. The entire Buddhist monk community has been overlooked by the Nobel Commitee. I mean, except of course for His Holiness The Dalai Lama, a Buddhist monk, who was awarded the Nobel Prize for his work to further the cause of world peace, specifically his leadership to free the people of Tibet.

Maybe the Senator meant to say specifically that one of the dissidents from Burma should have gotten the Nobel Peace prize instead.

Oh, well that’s totally different.

Uh, except for the* Leader of the dissidents in Burma *who already won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1991.

Apparently while John McCain was busy becoming a Neocon, Aung was busy suffering for human rights and the furtherance of democracy in her home country, Burma.

First he throws the sour grapes and says the man who won the Nobel Peace Prize, a fellow countryman, shouldn’t have won. And then he demonstrates and astonishing level of ignorance. All for the cameras in crass political opportunism.

Classy.

McCain is so full of it.

He has been one of the better Republicans on the environment, so maybe he's jealous, but I think he's getting senile.

I heard Lieberman talking about the environment the other day and it occurred to me that his position may be part of why Gore chose him for VP candidate, other than to help get Florida. That had always perplexed me.

Some want Gore to run - I think maybe he can do more from where he's at now. After all, he was already elected once.

Don't even get me started on McCain and his benefactors in Little Saigon.

Oh, and the deadline for nominating the admirable monks who are currently demonstrating passed long before the current strife began....

McCain is unraveling at the seams. At his age, he needs to consider retiring before he loses all his marbles and ends up like Reagan (senile while in office, I don't care what anyone says; my grandfather was going senile at the same time, so I know the signs: Reagan was definitely going senile while in office)....

Instead of showing his streak of envy, wouldn't it have been much easier for McCain to say "Congratulations Mr. Vice President!" ...?

Duh.

Gore: Award puts focus on global warming

[And another little man who is pea-green with envy acts like a petulant spoiled brat (as usual)... although other parts of this article are fairly positive, for Lamestream Media - excerpt]:

The man who beat Gore in 2000, President Bush, had no plans to call Gore to congratulate him. But spokesman Tony Fratto called it "an important recognition" for both Gore and the scientific panel.

Perhaps the people who watch/read MSM don't really believe this climate change stuff. Not sure what they think when whole cities are drowned or razed to the ground.

They do believe in it Woz. Hard to see all the evidence and not understand it. Do yall realize every redneck in Louisiana believes global warming is happening? Do you know why they do believe it?

Because Louisiana is 'Sportsmans Paradise' and only blind fools can not see our surrounding enviorment changing. These rednecks might not understand the Armenian genocide or the monks Chevron needed to get out of the way, but they do understand hunting, and fishing and what the bayous are SUPPOSSED to be doing. They understand the animals.

As for this 'Not sure what they think when whole cities are drowned or razed to the ground."

After Katrina, it is kinda hard to know what to think. The damage was bad, but every person here has a sneaky suspicion georgie deliberately did not send help so he could ensure maximum damage. In otherwords, when they saw New Orleans fold, they saw a way to do things they had always wanted to do.

The Port Of Orleans is a very important military holding, not to mention the Strategic Oil Reserves are buried right under it. Oh, and then there was the long held pipe dream of remaking New Orleans without the black people.

Just like with everything georgie touches, I do not believe the 'climate deniers' are actually that large of a group. I doubt they make up more than 5% of anyone. The problem is though, those with a vested interest in denying it, have all the money and airtime they need to appear larger than they actually are.

That is the republicans new modus operandi. Puff up and swell yourself to appear larger than you actually are. 30% becomes a MAJORITY, if not in reality, it atleast APPEARS that way.

The problem is not people not believing it, because they do, the problem is they have every reason to make you think NO ONE ELSE believes it. If you are seemingly alone and isolated in that belief, the more likely you are to shut up and give up.
