FOCUS: Boston Globe | The Multifaceted King
http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/012108Y.shtml
The editors of the Boston Globe write: "King has figured in the Democratic presidential campaign this month, with both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton referring to his famous 'I Have a Dream' speech in 1963. Clinton is right, of course, that King never wielded the power of the presidency to devise the laws that ended segregation in the South. But it is inconceivable to chronicle the civil rights era without considering his formidable presence."
That's a great picture, Dianne. I posted it on the open thread.
Brilliant picture DiAnne. As usual. You do find some excellent pics, that's for sure. The sentiment is absolutely spot on, to me.
As has been taught throughout my history at least - "violence begets violence". To wage war on civilians make us no better than the Israelis right now waging war against over a million citizens in the dark - many of whom are children and ill.
It certainly puts us right up there as equals to the greatest murdering terrorists of the world. Who else in the world has orphaned as many children and raped and or killed as many civilians of all ages simply because that's what the military leadership encouraged? As many as the occupying forces of Iraq? Or Afghanistan? Or Vietnam? I doubt it.

That quote from MLK is my all-time favorite. It has a place of honor on my refrigerator, so I can remember those words, every single day.
