PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING DETAILS ON OUR VISIT TO KAY BAILEY HUTCHINSON'S OFFICE ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 7, 2005. [I sent the following Hutchinson remarks and my comments only to ... Randi Rhodes, Keith Olberman, Democratic Underground, Dallas Morning News, Brad Blog ... let's continue to spread the word about our questionable lap-dog Hutchinson ... what's she afraid of ... PEACE?]
The first two posts were written by Rusty Tomlinson prior to the scheduled visit: Message: 1 Date: Wed, 05 Oct 2005 14:27:35 -0400 From: hftomlinson@aol.com Subject: Camp Casey Dallas Friends and Heroes of Mine, A few weeks ago, Cindy Sheehan and her mothers sent a letter to every US senator and every US representative asking four questions. They were "President Bush has said that brave Americans like my son Casey have died for a 'noble cause'. What is that 'noble cause'? How many more lives are we as a country willing to sacrifice in Iraq? How many are you personally willing to sacrifice? What are you specifically doing to bring our sons and daughters home from this needless war?". At the websites www.meetwithcindy.org and www.meetwiththemothers.org, we are given a list of the senators and representatives who have agreed to meet and those who have not. Having established a Camp Casey on the doorstep of the president, Cindy and her mothers have asked that Camp Caseys be established at the doorsteps of senators and representatives who have not set dates for a meeting Among those who have failed to set a meeting date is Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison of Texas. Despite the fact that Cindy and the other mothers are grieving mothers whose children have been killed in the service ofthe American military, Senator Hutchison will not deign to meet with them. She has not even given these grieving mothers the courtesy of a refusal. She is trying the same strategy the president tried; ignore them and they'll go away, but this strategy didn't work for him. We didn't go away; In our tens of thousands from every state in the nation, we came to Crawford. In our hundreds of thousands, we came to Washington. And, it won't work for Senator Hutchison. At high noon, this Friday, October 7, in celebration of Joe Hill's birthday, we will establish Camp Casey Dallas on the doorstep of Senator Hutchison's Dallas office, 10440 N. Central Expressway. We suggest that you park at the park to the east of Central Expressway on Meadow Rd., and walk to Central Expressway, then north up the access road on the east side of the expressway, to the Circuit City parking lot, where we will meet. You should see our tents! If you are near Dallas, please join us, and help us show Senbator Hutchison that ignoring us won't make us go away. Take off work, and tell as many people as you can. We will not go away! Rusty Tomlinson North Texas for Justice and Peace/Camp Casey Dallas Coalition Message: 2 Date: Thu, 06 Oct 2005 18:53:32 -0400 From: hftomlinson@aol.com Subject: Re: Camp Casey Dallas Yesterday, I went to Kay Bailey Hutchison's office, to hand deliver a letter reminding her of the questions that Cindy Sheehan had asked and to tell them that we would be back Friday to find out when they wish to meet with Cindy, or one of her representatives One of her staff met me at the door. She was very courteous, until I told her that I was there representing the Camp Casey Dallas Coalition, and delivered the letter. Then, I could see her courtesy become glacial. She hates us. She hates what we think, and she hates the fact that we won't just go away. She hates the fact that we are publicizing the fact that the government is trying to avoid the families of those killed in Iraq and other wars of US aggression. She hates the fact that these families have the assumption to even try to question those who make policy. Tomorrow, we will be back. We are asking those of you near Dallas to please try to find a way to join us. We want her, and the senator to know that not only are we here, we're here in big numbers. Please join us at Circuit City, just north of Meadow on Central Expressway at high noon tomorrow! Just like Bush, Senator Hutchison thought she could ignore us, and we would go away. But, she can't run and she can't hide! Senator, WE WON'T GO AWAY! Ok, so here it is Friday, October 7, High Noon. Rusty and the organizer of Women in Black, I believe her name is LaRae (sp?) head over to Kay Bailey's office to deliver their letter asking the simple question: For what noble cause are our sons and daughters dying in Iraq? Of course by this time several Camp Casey alumuni, including Hadi, Johnny and Linda from the Crawford Peace House, Desiree from Code Pink Fort Worth, myself, Dot, and a dozen others are with Rusty to render support. If only Kay Bailey wasn't so fricking stubborn, if only Kay Bailey had taken action before it reached this point ...but NO! So, while Rusty and LaRae walked over to Kay Bailey's office located at the busy intersection of Meadow and Central Expressway, the remaining supporters set up camp at the intersection, in the public ROW, that being at least 700 feet or more from the property owned by MILLENIUM OFFICE PROPERTIES, wherein Kay Bailey offices. Rusty and LaRae were stopped after stepping foot onto the property; however, PRIOR to even entering the building. Building security confronted Rusty and LaRae and inquired about their purpose for being on the property. Be reminded, this is a 12 or so story office building. They explained they were going to visit Kay Bailey's office to deliver a letter, at which time they were advised that the building was closed. Huh???? Building closed to all visitors. So they said. Building management proceeded to call the police and at least four squad cars arrived at the building. Now remember, only two people were attempting to visit Hutchinson's office … not the additional dozen or so supporters, we were busy setting up the camp site. The two supporters did not don any anti-war t-shirts, hats, buttons, signs etc. They were respectfully dressed as if they were going to meet their Senator. Period. They wore nothing that would have led building management to believe they were there to disrupt or wreck havoc on the tenants of their office building. At this time, without any confrontation having ensued, the Dallas police issued citations to Rusty and LaRae for trespassing. The citations prohibit them from stepping foot on Millenium's property for 60 days. WTF ... WHY? I then called the property manager, Julia, at Millenium Properties and was told that we were a threat to their tenants. That no one had an appointment with Hutchinson for that day and, therefore, Millenium was advised by Hutchinson's office to restrict access to the building. Really now? According to Rusty, he had gone out of his way to make it clear that he would be delivering a letter to Kay Bailey on Friday … so what does a man have to do to get an appointment with the honorable Kay Bailey? Guess whatever it is, Rusty didn't meet their requirements. Julia stated that they needed to protect their tenants from disruption so that was their purpose in restricting access. That it was deemed a “sensitive” day. Why, I asked. Well, she said there were 5, 10, 15 possibly 20 protestors attempting to enter their building without an appointment. Need I say more ... that is a f'ing LIE. I then asked her if that's why building maintenance proceeded to place at least 25 large-ass American flags along the property lines surrounding their building -- was that Millenium's security fence? Was that a message to us that if you don't fall in step with Kay Bailey's policies, then you're "unpatriotic"???? What f'ing idiots. These flags were NOT in the ground PRIOR to our visit ... the flags were placed in the ground while the police were issuing citations. Hmmmmm ............ A few reporters showed up, took pictures and interviewed Rusty and a few others. OK, so is this what you call Democracy???? Two constituents of Hutchinson's are cited with trespassing while attempting to deliver a letter to their so-called in name only “honorable” senator? Who pays her salary? We do. Who pays to keep the lights on in her office? We do. Who is asking her to explain the honorable cause for the loss of lives in Iraq? We are. That B*TCH!!!! This is how you can help our cause: (1) Same place [Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson's office, 10440 North Central Expressway, Dallas @ the Northeast corner of Central and Meadow], same time [12:00 Noon] next Friday [October 14, 2005] and every Friday thereafter until Kay Bailey answers our questions. Please join the cause and be there to show your support. (2) Call or write Hutchinson to express your utter disbelief in her handling of this matter. (3) Call [972-361-6400] or write Millenium Properties [5757 Alpha Road, Suite 101, Dallas, TX 75240, Jonathan Azoulay, President or Julia ?, property manager] Millenium Properties and express your disappointment in their handling of this non-violent, non-threatening situation. |

UPDATE:
For almost a month now, we have been visiting Hutchinson's office on a daily basis. So far, twelve have been arrested or issued citations. Last week, two ministers and an 80-year old anti-war grandma were arrested and thrown in Lew Sterritt prison for 12 hours because they refused to be turned away from visiting their senator. This past Wednesday, I was able to get up into the building and deliver a letter to Hutchinson's assistant. However, the doors to her office remain locked and I had to ring a doorbell to get assistance. An assistant came to the door, but did NOT invite me because I did not have a scheduled appointment., according to their records. Believe me, we have found that if you have a scheduled appointment with Hutchinson, it appears time and again that appointments by any discenting voices somehow get removed from their daily appointment schedule ... hmmmm, how interesting. Since the arrest and jailing of the well-known and highly respected Dallas ministers last week, it appears Hutchinson and building management have retreated. I'm sure a lawsuit that is being filed by one of the first individuals arrested against building management, etc. has had impact on their stand, too. The 20+ Dallas police officers no longer form a wall in front of the building. 'Bout time they realized that was a huge waste of taxpayer dollars in addition to a huge draw of attention. Instead, the building has added more security guards who are watchful of us, but not near as threatening as the Dallas Police were when they were out in force. In closing, anyone and everyone in the Dallas area is invited to join us at 2:00 p.m. at Senator Hutchinson's office Monday thru Friday. Her Dallas office is located at Central Expressway and Meadow Road (northeast corner). The purpose of our daily visits: to deliver written requests (1) asking her to respond to Cindy Sheehan's request to all Senators regarding the noble cause for which are men and women are dying in Iraq and (2) request of a Town Hall Meeting to discuss Iraq, the loss of human lives due to the war, cost of war, an exit strategy, etc. Also, every Friday we recreate Camp Casey Dallas from 12:00 noon until 3:00 in front of Hutchinson's office. We have a much larger crowd join us for our Friday event ... probably had 25 + yesterday. Even though that number doesn't sound great, what is great is the response we are receiving from the passers-by. Wow ... an unbelievably positive twist compared to any anti-war activies of say, 8 to 12 months ago. Continuous "honks for peace", thumbs up, peace signs from the majority of vehicles that pass by this very busy intersection in Dallas, Texas. I sure hope Hutchinson and her staff are listening to the noise below ... her constituents are speaking loud and clear. |
