The Lake Erie Alliance for Dmocracy (L.E.A.D.) is a young but rapidly growing and highly-focused grassroots organization based in Erie, PA and actively interconnected with other political action groups across Pennsylvania and in the nearby areas of Ohio and New York.

L.E.A.D. is comprised of former JK campaign volunteers; area Democratic Party constituents; local and regional political organizers; environmental, anti-war, and social-justice activists; and concerned citizens who believe that this is a critical time in our history for all of the people to stand up and be counted and for every voice to be heard.

I am from the Lake Erie Alliance for Democracy (LEAD) in Erie County. Our grass roots, start up organization which arose out of the fall presidential campaign meets monthly to strategize and support candidates that stand for freedom and economic and social justice.


We are intent upon making certain that Rick Santorum not be our U.S. Senator after 2006, and that Bob Casey represent Pennsylvania. We would like to use the referendum/ballot question process to bring out voters that would vote yes on issues that Mr. Santrum has never stood for - minimum wage, living wage, health care, etc. - in an effort to defeat him. If there is anyone in your organization who
could send us information about such a process in Pennsylvania (I know that it is involved and non-binding) could you please share anything that you can with our group ? We would certainly be willing to coordinate with yours and other groups to use this strategy to our benefit.
